Flower Power

I’m looking at photos of flowers and trying to calm my fears about Mother’s further weight loss.

  1. I love macro photography, as you know Isobel.

    These are beautiful.

Sorry to hear your mother is losing weight, I know it’s a worry, but you are right, fretting about it won’t help. How much does she weigh at the moment?

    • 31.9 kg. Last Wednesday she was 33.8 kg. She’s on over 3,000 calories a day.
I understand the doctor is asking for another opinion tomorrow. I fear there is something else going on.
      Glad you like the pix.

  2. That is low, and a cause for concern. I’m glad they are investigating. My mother had the same problem; we did manage to turn it around, but it was not easy.

You are not in charge of her food, so you are not in control.

Difficult, but they seem keen to sort it out, which is good news.

  3. They are remarkably pretty flowers, and I bet all (bar the first one possibly) would be considered weeds?

That’s quite a weight loss in such a short period of time. Rather than thinking there is anything untoward, were they using the different scales and they’re not calibrated?

  4. It’s the same scales. Now she doesn’t have her plastercast on, so for the past couple of weeks we’ve known her true weight. It may just be that her body is using all thecaloriea she’s getting and more to mend her fracture and her pressure sores. In which case, getting more food into her is the answer.

  5. Quite a long process to reverse the weight loss then. At least if she has to say in hospital, the staff will learn the best way of getting her to eat – although Mother will keep wondering whether she is pregnant xxx

    • Yes, that aspect, the first, not the suspected pregnancy, makes me hope she stays in for a bit longer. I’d like to see her steadily regaining weight before she moves, but on the other hand, I’d like her to be out of hospital. It’s a tricky one.
