Weekly Photo Challenge, Create: The Baobab Tree

Those wonderful people at the South bank have been at it again. Artists from around the globe have contributed to this summer’s Festival of the World. And the main exhibit is this wonderful, creative, Baobab tree.

  3. I love the way they’ve wrapped the tree with fabric rolls. Is there a significant reason for it? Lovely addition to our weekly challenge.

  5. WOW! This even looks like a real baobab! When I saw these in Africa, they had bands around them quite reminiscent of the fabric bands here — there, though, the bands were scarring from where the people had stripped the bark to use the fiber for all manner of things (rope, e.g.). The people are so wise, they know exactly how much / little to take, to keep the tree healthy yet still get what they need. A lovely memory. Thank you!!
