He looks very relaxed, and seems to have been well cared for, but this ginger lad was abandoned at the vet’s.
His owners took him there to be neutered, and never collected him.
They presumably left false names and telephone numbers as they can’t be traced. So here he is, languishing in the cattery until someone offers him a good home.
Tempted?
Poor boy.. How could people DO that?? grrrr.
I don’t know. Better than leaving him on the streets I guess, but I do hope someone will offer him a home soon. Do you think Lily and Leo would welcome a new friend?
Aww. Hope this story has a happy ending-
And he gets a good family. He is handsome
Yes, so do I.
People are so bad to animals….poor kitty but now he has a true chance to be loved and wanted by the right owners….praying you will find him a perfect and good home:) God Bless him and you:)
Shame he’s a bit far from you. Or are you planning a trip
here soon? 🙂
Yes, I would love to come see London:) And bring home a new friend…Minnie my inside kitty will be 18 and she will not be too happy about that..he is a pretty boy and I hope you are able to find him a home asap.:)
I’m told he is a very laidback boy and friendly to other cats. If I didn’t think one of my neighbours wouldn’t raise a storm, i’d be more than tempted.
🙂 Yes as he trusts you:)
No he doesn’t know me. All I have seen of him is this photo. The cattery told me his story and how they are looking for a home for him.
Oh ok for some reason I thought he was living with you…..the cattery must be a cat shelter then until he is adopted….
The cattery runs a small charity alongside the business. You can read about it here http://hamiltonscatfund.co.uk/index.php
Ok:)
Ok:) That is really cool…..I know our town that we live about 20 miles from has been taking care of abandoned cats and unwanted cats for the last several years…they do adopt them out to good homes…I like the Cattery concept where they can sleep on beds and feel at home:)
I can see that should you get to London you might have a slightly unorthodox visiting plan! The cattery is excellent. I took Cat there and MasterB goes there now too. They look after lots of cats, and if you visit the site, you’ll see a picture oF Tommy who certainly wasn’t behind the door when character was being given out!
I did see Tommy….it is so worthy I believe to take care of our animals and all animals…God made each one and if He weeps when 1 sparrow falls rom the sky that means He loves the animals too….I know without a doubt I will see all of my animals someday in heaven:)
I don’t have your religious faith, but if there is a heaven it’ll be a pretty big disappointment if no animals are there.
One of my cousins, who is a clergyman, believes there will be a special section of hell reserved for dog breeders who have used selective breeding to encourage dogs with such narrow hips they are prone to dysplasia, and backs that slope at 45°.
🙂
I get really cross when people do not accept their responsibilities. I hope someone snaps him up.
I was hoping that person was going to be you, Julia.
What jerks. Poor guy. He is beautiful, I wish he was here!
Which is of course leaving me wondering where you are! 🙂
What I hope this post will achieve is a bit of publicity for him, and maybe someone who reads this will want him and be able to take him, or know of someone else who would give him a good home.
Fingers crossed and spread the word!
I’m in Canada, good luck with finding a place for him. If I knew anyone in London I would give them a call!
Thanks! 🙂
People can be so horrible. Well, we’re a horrible species. So there!
Hope he finds a home quickly–and won’t he be lucky to be wanted!
And won’t that home be lucky to have him. 🙂
Isobel he’s a beautiful ginger boy isn’t he? Love that tail and that look on his face….no doubt wondering why his so-called caretakers took him to the vet then never came to get him. He’s gorgeous though – I hope one of your London friends decides they simply CAN’T do without him! It’s so good of you to try and help that happen………Good luck……truly.
Pam
Yes, it must all be a bit disorientating. the cattery says he is affectionate so I am guessing he has been used to attention and is missing it. It’s impossible to know why his owners abandoned him, but they seem to have thought it through to make sure he would be alright.
Makes me wonder who would bother to take a cat to be neutered… and then not bother any longer. It seems contradictory.
I reckon it was probably because for whatever reason they could not take care of him any more and all the rehoming centres are full. It must have been planned as they gave false contact details.
The students I got MasterB from couldn’t get him into a centre and advertised him on Gumtree. That is quite a risk, though I gave them pix of Cat, and offered references from the cattery and the vet.
Our new boy came through Gumtree, and we visited when the kits were 5-6 weeks old, then collected at 12 weeks. It worked well for us.
But that wasn’t an adult cat they could no longer keep and were trying to get into a rescue centre. The more I think about it, the luckier I think MasterB was that I showed up. The students could not keep him any longer. He could have ended up somewhere very dodgy.
TOO TRUE
Before I went to sleep I read the current copy of Blueprint, the Blue Cross mag. You can download it here. http://bluecross.org.uk/1996-106624/blueprint-autumn-2012.html There is an article about abandoned pets, and a reference, which may well be to Gumtree, of 50,000 pets advertised for sale there at one time.
There is a really shocking bit of info that nine out of ten staff is we’re turned away from reforming centres. I dread to think what became of them.
He looks like a blonde Ginger and I would so love to have a blonde Ginger – sadly three cats are probably my limit. Mackenzie is scrawny and bald from having Doodles come to stay and goodness only knows how Bertha would react – the house would be even stinkier!
He is gorgeous and I hope he finds a very good home soon.
A blonde ginger, is that the correct term? I should have known I could rely on you to bring sme cat knowledge here. Shame you can’t have him, but four cats is rather a lot. You would be getting a reputation.
Still, maybe you know someone who would like him, and then you could visit. 🙂
I think blonde Ginger is my term – I think it might be cream or apricot in pedigree terms.
I’m actually breaking the missives on my house by having three animals – there is a limit of two (but there are also rules about commercial vehicles and caravans that are broken regularly and Doodles seems happy to be confined to the garden).
The Cattery described him as pink champagne!
Interesting that there is an official limit to the number of pets you can have in your house. I have never heard of that before.
Pink champagne? Interesting. It’s a difficult colour to describe.
The number of animals is just an extension of the other types of rules – I might not be allowed farm animals (eg chickens). It’s a bit like Quakers owning land and saying it cannot be used for anything to do with alcohol, or don’t you have something that says you can only have pets if they aren’t a nuisance?
I may go and see him later, so I shall report back if I do.
I’d love chickens, they always look as they are riding bicycles and investigating thoroughly. Like the a village post mistress.
Yes, We have that clause in our leases, terminally vague.
he is beautiful. at least he wasn’t dumped in the street. i hope he finds a forever home soon Isobel. you should ask Rumpy Dog to mention him as well…they have a huge following on the blog
Yes, a very lovely boy!
Good idea about Rumpy Dog. hanks for the hint.
