Lloyd’s and the Prawn

The Shard isn’t the only tall building in London.
Here are two in the City which i photographed this afternoon.

The Prawn and Lloyd's

The Prawn and Lloyd’s

By City standards Lloyd’s, which was built between 1978 and 1986, is positively geriatric. It is by Richard Rogers and apart from being ridiculously photogenic is one of my favourite buildings in the City combining playfulness, grace and functionality. The Prawn on the left is by Norman Foster. The Prawn is growing on me, but it isn’t quite in the same league as Lloyd’s.

  1. The buildings in the BIG CITY of St. Louis, MO are boring in comparison to all the cool buildings you have there Isobel. We do have the Arch and we enjoy a visit there now and then but I guess we have gotten a little too used to it. Enjoyed your picture this morning.
