Weekly Photo Challenge: Unique

It’s been called a madrigal in stone; the spire of St Bride’s church in the City of London. It was rebuilt after the Great Fire of 1666, and designed by Christopher Wren.

It is on Fleet Street, and although print journalism has now moved to Docklands, this remains the journalists’ church. The spire is also said to have inspired our tiered wedding cakes.
It so happens that it is St Bride’s Day today.

  1. Almost too beautiful and delicate to be “the spiritual home of the media”!
That’s not a fingerpost for Champion Hill on top, is it?

    • When journalists go missing, reporting from various hotspots around the globe, they are remembered and prayed for in this church. It is sobering to see their photographs and their stories in a side chapel of this very well maintained church.
